THE RHONE EMBANKMENTS TOUR : 2 hours – 6 Km

THE RHONE EMBANKMENTS

The tour – The Rhone Embankments – leaves from the place Antonin Poncet and takes you to the entrance of the Tête d'Or Park. It is 6 Kilometres long and runs along the central part of the Rhone Embankments. This part of the tour is more urban and offers stunning views of the city and you can admire its most important buildings. This “voie verte” (green path) is reserved exclusively for green means of transport (bicycles, pedestrians, scooters, roller skaters etc.,). You can therefore ride along this path in safety.

TOUR PROGRAMME (2 hours):

  • The left and right banks of the Guillotiere bridge/ The Hotel Dieu/ Fourvière
  • The Collège Footbridge / The Trinité Chapel/Croix-Rousse
  • The Morand Bridge/The Opera House/City Hall
  • Musical accompaniment all the way to the Tête d'Or Park

On the Fourvière Tour, you will discover unexpected views of Lyon. This hill is nicknamed “the hill that prays” because of it numerous religious institutions. The tour will take you to the highest point of the city, on the esplanade of the Fourvière Basilica, from where you can see the whole of the World Heritage Site of the city.

On the Fourvière Long Tour, you will discover unexpected views of Lyon. It takes you all the way around the hill, the main settlement of the Gallo Roman Empire in Lyon. This hill is nicknamed “the hill that prays” because of it numerous religious institutions. The tour will take you to the highest point of the city, on the esplanade of the Fourvière Basilica, from where you can see the whole of the World Heritage Site of the city. The tête d'or Park and the Cité Internationale tour begins and ends in front of main entrance to the Tête d'or Park : “la porte des enfants du Rhône” (The Children of the Rhone Gate). On this tour you will visit, in a very unique way, the park, its rose garden, the zoo, and the magnificent botanical glasshouses. You will be seduced by the wealth of its plantations (8800 trees and 5 million roses) and by its alleyways lined by villas and townhouses.
You will also visit the “Cité Internaionale”, which houses some of the city's leading sites like the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Amphitheatre/Salle 3000
